I am so behind on posting new pictures. In fact, I am behind on taking the pictures! But I got some time recently and have a little bit of a rhythm going, so hoping I can bring some more collectible joy to the groups. I love posing and taking photos of my sixth scale figures and hope it is entertaining for you as well. Today I present Hot Toys DX21 Ahsoka with Grogu from Sideshow. She is really a beautiful figure and a great addition to the live action debut of the character. While each iteration of live action Ahsoka has improved, I suspect we will have an even better figure with Ahsoka “the White” when and if she is made. This set is a beautiful rendering of the character. Rosario Dawson’s likeness is beautifully done along with the makeup and prosthetics that transformed her into the character. The moving eyeballs, which seem to becoming more and more of a standard in the sixth scale figures, really gives a life-like quality to the faces. The tailoring here is beautiful. The fully realized costume down to the soles of the boots is stunning. Her belt is especially nice and I love her gauntlets and sleeves. Accessories are finely detailed and the environment base and background give you a lot of posing options. A do have a few criticisms on this set, more than I usually would (I admit I am not extremely critical usually, I’m a big softie). First, the seamless arms, while nice, ultimately hinder any type of action pose for display as we know from experience that these things degrade over time. Especially underneath the sleeve it seems pointless to not have a normal joint for posing. Will be keeping to straight arm and gentle poses for long term display. Second, I am disappointed by the fact that there are items in the DX20 that were not included with DX21 which seemed to be the “deluxe” set of Ahsoka. Not getting the normal base with nameplate, with the water accessory and alternate background is pretty disappointing. I think the environmental base and background from this set should have been in addition to the others. Third, the lack of light up on this set is greatly disappointing. With the transition to USB from the button batteries, it would have been nice to have light up sabers as well as the lantern baffling not a light up feature. Smaller laterns with the Yoda set and others have been light up. I can’t believe how plain this is and that is not obvious upon looking at the product pictures if you are not reading closely. While this is a good looking figure, I do think this set is lacking in some ways. Regardless, she was popular and seems to be very popular among collectors. I am not at all disappointed with the purchase but I think there was room for improvement here. Hopefully the next version of her will have some improvements.
