Today I am back with Hot Toys Moff Gideon from Sideshow! I enjoyed the character but had been on the fence getting him. Sideshow ended up running him on a deal and I couldn’t refuse. The sculpt of Giancarlo Esposito is impressive. I think it really captures his aloof expression of villainy that he seems to be known for. If you need a bad guy, Giancarlo is your man. Paint work is really nice, especially mouth and eyes in my opinion. We have the always lovely armor sculpt and paint work. His belt is nicely done with holster, though I do find getting the strap back into its hole a bit difficult for my hands. His boots are especially nice, I never realized the detail there. I like the bracers and the small details of controls on them. The wired cape down each side works nicely and allows for a bit of dynamic posing. I do knock Hot Toys for how this is packed however since the cape does not remove and feeding it through a hole in the back of the tray into plastic and taping it down, I was afraid I would break the threads pulling it through. I seem to remember my other caped figures just being laid into the tray if they were not removable. A small gripe. Our only real accessories here are his blaster pistol and the Darksaber. The pistol is nicely done with some small details. The Darksaber itself is nicely rendered and I like that the head is the part that removes and swaps instead of the blade alone. The paint work on the blade is a good effort but I don’t feel you get the effect you want from it. I’m not sure how you could get a glowing effect to it, but it doesn’t seem like the was the way. (Get it?) All in all, not my favorite figure but surely not bad. He will look good with Dark Troopers, or as my friend Aaron pointed out, really any dark armored characters. Not a bad add to the collection on a deal and now we will have to see if they do the Boba Vader version of him. #SideshowCollectibles #HotToysCollectibles #StarWars #YesSideshow If you liked this post and may be ordering this figure, please use my referral code (if you are feeling charitable):
